John Munson
From Minneapolis
First show since since April 4, 2005
From last.fm:
From www.thenewstandards.com/munson.html: John Munson plays bass and sings songs in The New Standards. He is perhaps best known as a member of Semisonic and before that a founding member of the band Trip Shakespeare. There were other efforts before that too. They kicked ass in a less well known sort of way. John was awarded a fellowship to study music in Taiwan in the fall of 2005. This has given him an opportunity to pursue his interest in Chinese traditional music. He also recently released a CD of Chinese music on his CultureBridgeMusic label. Tim O'Reagan
From Minneapolis
First show on MN Live's calendar
From last.fm:
After spending nearly a decade as the drummer with the seminal Minneapolis alt-country combo the Jayhawks, Tim O'Reagan stepped out from behind the kit to release a self-titled solo album in 2006, a breezy and sonically diverse set that proved O'Reagan was as good at singing, songwriting, and playing guitar as he was at keeping time. Tim O'Reagan got his start in music in Kansas City, where after several years of holding down the rhythm in R&B cover bands he formed the Leatherwoods with his friend Todd Newman. Jeremy Messersmith
From Minneapolis
First show since since May 12, 2007 • First Mainroom show since January 17, 2007 • 13th show on MN Live's calendar since September 25, 2006
From last.fm:
To call Jeremy Messersmith a musician is half-truth: He’s also a storyteller, who has carefully crafted a trilogy of songs that narrate life. His first full-length release The Alcatraz Kid is a moving collection of acoustic-driven lullabies with titles like “Novocain” and “Beautiful Children” that innocently question the purpose of things to come. The integrity of these delicate songs immediately struck a chord with critics and fans alike, and captured the attention of Semisonic’s Dan Wilson, who offered to produce Messersmith’s follow-up album, The Silver City. Chris Koza is a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based singer/songwriter, and has released three albums since 2004 -- "Exit Pesce," "Patterns," and "A Friend of a Friend" (EP). Deep into autumn of 2004 Chris released his debut album "Exit Pesce" in an apartment. Read more about Chris Koza on Last.fm.
