He is perhaps best known as a member of Semisonic and before that a founding member of the band Trip Shakespeare. There were other efforts before that too. They kicked ass in a less well known sort of way. John was awarded a fellowship to study music in Taiwan in the fall of 2005. This has given him an opportunity to pursue his interest in Chinese traditional music. He also recently released a CD of Chinese music on his CultureBridgeMusic label. Laurie Lindeen was the singer and guitarist for all-female Minneapolis rock trio Zuzu's Petals. Signed to TwinTone Records they released two well-received albums in the early 90s, When No One's Looking and Music Of Your Life. After the band split in the mid 90s she married fellow Minneapolis musician Paul Westerberg, formerly of The Replacements, and made one last foray into music with the solo EP A Pregnant Pause in 1998. Dan Israel is a singer-songwriter currently based in Minneapolis. He won Song of the Year (for "Come to Me") at the 2005 Minnesota Music Awards. In the late '80s and early '90s, he was one-half of the folk duo One Town Horse in Chicago. In the mid '90s, he fronted the Austin, TX folk-rock group Potter's Field (where he was named one of Austin's top 15 songwriters). In 1996, he moved to Minneapolis, where he formed Dan Israel and the Cultivators, releasing several CDs, both solo and with the Cultivators. Dan Israel on Last.fm.
