Young the Giant is an alternative rock band which formed in Irvine, California, United States in 2004. The band consists of Sameer Gadhia (vocals, percussion), Jacob Tilley (guitar), Eric Cannata (guitar), Payam Doostzadeh (bass) and François Comtois (drums). The band's name is purposefully nonsensical; Gadhia explained it as a "leftfield idea" meant to evoke curiosity. The band released their debut self-titled album, Young the Giant, on 25 January 2011, which was preceded by a digital-only release in October 2010. Read more about Young the Giant on Last.fm.

Two bands, listed below in chronological order, have used this name: 1. A duo consisting of Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider who released one self-titled album in 1987. The single “Daddy’s Coming Home” received some alternative radio and MTV airplay. In 1990, Johannes and Shneider formed Eleven. 2. Walk the Moon is an indie rock band that formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2008.
