Yasen Marie are self-described as "three girls on a mission". Band members are Annalise (from California), Alisha (from Minnesota), and Amera (from New York). Yasen Marie are "influenced by a lot of different styles of music ranging from acoustic, folk, rock, punk, jazz, classical, and reggae". All three girls play guitar, piano, djembe, and sing, and Amera also drums for the band. The girls claim to have "created music in the woods and hung with the moon at night". Hailing from Minnesota and comprising members Eric Tracey (vocals, guitar), Brian Harper (bass), Jeff Hedrix (guitar, vocals) and Paul Tuschy (drums, vocals), Smiling Politely embraces a brand of hard rock mostly associated with the post-grunge era of alternative music, complete with crunchy distortion and melodic textures. The band emerged in 2004 as Smiling Politely (a name taken from an episode... of the popular television show “The Simpsons”) and released their debut EP, Screamelody.
