Foghorn Stringband
From Portland, Oregon
First Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar
From last.fm:
The Foghorn Stringband (composed of local americana all-stars Caleb Klauder, Stephen “Sammy” Lind, Peter Leone, Nadine Landry and Patrick Lind) features tight intstrumental work and a line-up — fiddle, banjo, mandolin, bass and guitar — reminiscent of early bluegrass, but their powerful approach is whole-heartedly Old Time, centered largely by the fiddle. Devoted to the interpretation and performance of American stringband music, their style encompasses early country music, the fiddle repertoire of the Southern Appalachians and the Midwest, and the stringband sounds of the Piedmont region. Hackensaw Boys
From Charlottesville, Virginia
First Twin Cities show since since October 12, 2007 • First Cedar show • Third Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar since March 5, 2006
From last.fm:
The Hackensaw Boys first began playing their joyful blend of old-time and bluegrass-tinged string-band music on the streets of Charlottesville, Virginia in the autumn of 1999. Far from limiting themselves to the old-time canon, however, the Hackensaws have been first and foremost a band of songwriters. Their music, while drawing upon the spirit of the mountains, is sophisticated and informed by the best elements of punk rock and classic country music. As one reviewer put it: “Imagine the Carter Family meets the Ramones and you begin to get the picture.” Read more about The Hackensaw Boys on Last.fm.
