Russian Circles is a three piece instrumental post-rock/post-metal band from Chicago. The band plays epic, sprawling music which runs the gamut of heavy discordant metal to soft delicate passages. They are also known for their energetic live shows, which include tours with Tool, Red Sparowes, Minus the Bear and Daughters, as well as appearances at the 2006, 2007 & 2008 SXSW festivals. Chelsea Wolfe is a singer/songwriter and eponymous full band started in 2009 out of Los Angeles, California. Her style has been described as "doom folk", and her music has been described as a "specific brand of drone-metal-art-folk". Inspired by the dark state of the world and the strange connection between all things, she creates a unique musical blend of goth-folk, experimental rock and spiritual realm funeral songs. Marriages is a trio made up of Dave Clifford, Greg Burns and Emma Ruth Rundle, all of whom are also in post-rock quintet Red Sparowes. Though both acts are signed to Sargent House—and though Clifford has played with Rundle as part of The Nocturnes—these musicians have found, in the face of their own proximity, a degree of fresh sound together. The trio formed in late 2011, quickly recording their debut with engineer Toshi Kasai (Melvins, Big Business, Tool) in December.
