We all met in the Denver area. We all come from the same family of seekers and treasure hunters. We all work at the same Starbucks in Cherry Creek mall. That's where me met. We all shop together, it's just easier. We all like girly movies, especially Griff, but especially Stelth and Blake. We all have imaginary pets; Laura has a mouse/unicorn named Amsterdam. The Steamboat Kings are a folksy, neo-ragtime indie band from St. Paul with a vibrant, fun, floating-down-the-river sound. We've been playing together for over a year now, and are about to release our first full-length studio album. During a late-night self-indulgent conversation, we decided we should be described as a band with Bob Dylan+Elvis Costello lyricism, jazz-influenced bass, John Mayer Trio-influenced guitar, Mumford and Sons spirit, with a dash of She and Him charm.
