Charlie Parr plays original and traditional folk and Piedmont-style blues, accompanying himself on National resonator guitar, 12-string guitar and sometimes a banjo. He was raised in Austin, Minnesota, in a household that prized traditional American folk music and his style bears the influence of hours spent listening to country blues records and Smithsonian/Folkways field recordings; often in the garage. Latterell has been performing in the Twin Cities as a solo artist since 2008 when he released the EP, ‘The Sweetheart Boy of the Rainbow Café.’ In 2010 he released his first full-length CD, ‘Charades.’ In early 2011 Latterell posted a series of free singles to his website, mattlatterell.com. These singles now comprise half of his most recent album, 'Life On Land.' While occasionally still performing solo shows, Matt can usually be seen performing with a band consisting of himself, Holly Newsom, Steve McPherson and Reed Pagel. Read more on Last.fm
