THE MOTHER HIPS
From San Francisco, California
First Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar
From last.fm:
"We definitely all missed playing together, and a couple of close friends kept urging us to play shows," says singer/guitarist Tim Bluhm about The Mother Hips' decision to reconvene. "We approach the band differently now than we did before the hiatus. There's no pressure on us the way we do it: We all have other sources of income, and mostly aren't dependent on the Hips making money at shows. I think of us as 'musicians of leisure.'" LITTLE MAN
From St Paul
First show since since May 9, 2007 • First Triple Rock show since January 18, 2007 • First show supporting a touring headliner since March 18, 2007 • 16th show on MN Live's calendar since November 23, 2005
From last.fm:
The six song EP Orbital Amusement sonically delights with ray-gun and sputnik sounds, layered vocals and fuzzy pitch-bending guitars. While reminiscent of classics (Led Zeppelin I, Flash Gordon-era Queen), more modern sounds like that of The Black Keys, Wolfmother and Smashing Pumpkins abound on this heavy, lustful yet astral collection. With "Of Mind and Matter" (Eclectone Records) Little Man has combined the big hooks of classic Brit-Pop with something uniquely fresh. Read more about Little Man on Last.fm.
Blacktop Badge

The Saps
From Champaign, Illinois
First Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar
From last.fm:
The Saps got off to a hot start in 1999, playing some of their first shows to a great response at local venues like the Lounge Ax and Double Door. Original members Dan Lastick and Dan Menoni (The Dans) spent the next few years going through a progression of crash and burn rhythm sections, until 2001 brought the addition of Brett Whitacre on drums, veteran of the Chicago scene (36 Invisibles, Galactic Inmate, Warm Ones) and take-charge drummer.
