Soul Asylum is an american alternative rock band formed in the summer of 1981 by Minneapolis high school friends Dan Murphy, Karl Mueller, and Dave Pirner. The band (named Loud Fast Rules up until 1984) quickly became frontrunners of American college rock, following in the tradition of fellow Minnesota bands Hüsker Dü and The Replacements. Landing their first record deal with Twin/Tone in 1984, Soul Asylum recorded a total of four albums for the local label: Say What You Will... The Evening Rig is a Minneapolis rock band established in 2006 by singer/guitarist Jason Miller (ex-The Crush), drummer Becky Hanten (ex-Cardinal Sin, Cadillac Blindside) and bassist Jake Jarpey. Their first show was opening up for Lucero at a sold out Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis in Spring of '06. Shortly after, lead guitarist Josh Lynch joined the band, completing the lineup. The Evening Rig's debut CD "Never Been'er" will be released on the Minneapolis based Heart of a Champion label in October 2007. The Evening Rig on Last.fm.
