Ronnie Spector
From Danbury, Connecticut
First Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar
From last.fm:
Ronnie Spector (born Veronica Yvette Bennett, 10 August 1943, in New York City) was the lead singer of the 1960's girl group The Ronettes, who most famously sang Be My Baby. She is the ex-wife of producer Phil Spector. Kept a near prisoner by Phil Spector throughout her teens and 20s, she eventually left the abusive relationship to raise her son, and reestablish her languishing singing career. Many attempts fell flat; even 1976's Say Goodbye to Hollywood, written by Billy Joel and with backing from Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band, didn't take to the charts. The 5.6.7.8′s
First Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar
From last.fm:
The 5.6.7.8's are a Japanese all-female rock and roll group with a heavily surf-influenced garage rock sound. The band was formed in Tokyo, Japan in 1986; its current lineup consists of founding members Yoshiko 'Ronnie' Fujiyama (vocals, guitar) and her sister Sachiko Fujiyama (drums), and long-time bassist Akiko Omo. The derivation for the group's name is their sizable repertoire of rock and roll covers from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. Already well known in their homeland, the group first achieved international cult fame as a result of an appearance in the 2003 film Kill Bill Volume 1. Read more about The 5.6.7.8's on Last.fm.
