First Twin Cities show since since February 10, 2012 • First Hell's Kitchen show • First headlining show • Ninth Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar since March 11, 2011
From last.fm:
There is more than one artist with this name. (1) For nearly 10 years, Seattle, Washington-based artist umami has been bending genres such as synth pop, drum and bass, ambient and breakbeats to create melodically rich electronic music. The songs on umami's 2006 LP, Theme for Travel, are created almost entirely from found samples and field recordings sculpted into new sounds while leaving a trail of sonic bread crumbs back to their origins. City on the Make
From Minneapolis
First show since since January 14, 2012 • 48th show on MN Live's calendar since December 30, 2005
From last.fm:
City on the Make is a band from South Minneapolis, Minnesota comprised of childhood friends Mischa Keegan (guitar, vocals), Mike Massey (vocals), Stephen Rowe (bass, vocals), and Colin Stumbras (drums). Making music together for years, the band City on the Make emerged onto the Minneapolis scene in 2004. Purists may disagree (or give a resounding cheer, depending), but City on the Make is a "blues" band in the truest sense - raw soul channeled through musicians by way of their hands, voices, and messages of a hard-lived working-class world. Oaks
From Minneapolis
First show since since February 23, 2012 • First Hell's Kitchen show • 11th show on MN Live's calendar since February 6, 2011
From last.fm:
In late 2003, just two years after 9/11, The OaKs's Ryan Costello sold everything he owned, joined a humanitarian organization and moved to Afghanistan. Costello lived there for two years, working in the Central Afghan mountains with returned refugees, teaching them creative agricultural techniques and becoming fluent in their native language, Farsi. Late at night, while the dust storms blocked out the stars and rattled the windows, he would sit and work out impressions of what he had seen and heard that day on his acoustic guitar.
