Dissociate is the solo project of Minneapolis sound designer/dj/producer Jonathan Ford. Heavily influenced by a wide variety of electronic styles including trip hop, IDM and power noise, but also contains elements of tribal percussion and trance. Jonathan also plays guitar and lends production to the band Stellar Vector.......... In contrast with many electronic acts, Dissociate is designed with spontaneity and improvisation in mind. John and Ryan decided to start a band in the summer of 2007, after a couple of years of Ryan dragging his feet (for no good reason). A couple of months into it, Mike volunteered to be the lead singer. John and Ryan were skeptical (because everyone thinks they can sing), so they made Mike go to some karaoke bars in Minneapolis (like U Otter Stop Inn and the amazing Vegas Lounge) to see if he could actually carry a tune.
