Zoo Animal is a Minneapolis, MN band formed in January of 2008. It started from Holly Hansen’s (vocals, guitar) need for a bassist and drummer to perform her solo material. Long-time friend Tim Abramson obliged to play bass, and Al Swenson, a fellow community college student, agreed to play drums (Justin Korhonen has since become drummer) . As they played more, Holly became unsettled. They were playing material she wrote before the band and she felt a need and excitement to write songs specifically for this band to play, allowing them to pretty much shape their own parts. No Bird Sing signed to Crushkill Recordings formed in late summer of 2008, combining the talents of Joe Horton (stage name of Eric Blair, vocals/keys) and Robert Mulrennan (guitars/electronics) of Hyder Ali with Graham O'Brien (drummer/electronics) of Abzorbr. The core of the band remains a trio, although guest appearances include Casey O'Brien and Kristoff Krane of Abzorbr.
