From last.fm:
The 4onthefloor’s new album, Spirit Of Minneapolis, evokes the spirit of American rebellion. That same pioneering spirit that brought us everything from modern aviation to rock & roll. Harnessing that spirit, the band is using it to break down modern music’s barriers down to our basic musical traditions. That ageless sound of rock & roll isn’t what it used to be, but the rumble of stomping feet emanating from Minneapolis is an omen of great things on the horizon. It is not so much a sound as a spirit. You don't need to name it to know it or to trust it. From Minneapolis, MN Peter Wolf Crier's second album Garden of Arms is a document that paints a vivid portrait of all the pain and beauty of growth. They hail from Minneapolis, MN, and have been friends for many years, playing a lot—a lot—of music together and apart. They have started bands, quit bands, restarted bands, played in others' bands, inspired other people's bands that became very successful, and even sometimes joined those bands after the fact. From last.fm:
Zoo Animal is a Minneapolis, MN band formed in January of 2008. It started from Holly Hansen’s (vocals, guitar) need for a bassist and drummer to perform her solo material. Long-time friend Tim Abramson obliged to play bass, and Al Swenson, a fellow community college student, agreed to play drums (Justin Korhonen has since become drummer) . As they played more, Holly became unsettled. They were playing material she wrote before the band and she felt a need and excitement to write songs specifically for this band to play, allowing them to pretty much shape their own parts.
