El Ten Eleven
From Southern, California
First Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar
From last.fm:
El Ten Eleven is a Los Angeles-based instrumental rock duo consisting of Kristian Dunn and Tim Fogarty. What separates El Ten Eleven from their musical peers is that they are only two musicians on stage creating pounding landscapes of sound with no laptops or sequencers. Dunn switches off (sometimes mid-song) between a double-neck bass/guitar and a fretless bass, while his feet dance on an extensive floorboard of looping devices and effects pedals. He plays everything live, loops himself and juggles all the layers of tracks on top of each other. Read more about El Ten Eleven on Last.fm.
Dance Band
From Minneapolis
First show since since June 7, 2008 • First Turf Club show since April 27, 2007 • First show supporting a touring headliner since January 26, 2007 • 26th show on MN Live's calendar since July 28, 2006
From last.fm:
Dance Band, the Twin Cities' live act sensation has been making considerable waves in Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN USA during their short existence. Dance Band built up a large amount of local buzz in 2007 due to their energetic, humorous and crowd-controlling concerts. Instrumentally, Dance Band is probably best described as "sci-fi electro funk rock." This matches the band's continuously changing attire, which usually looks like a glorious fusion of form-fitting super hero costumes, 80s-era exercise clothes and... sex. Solid Gold
From Minneapolis
First show since since June 7, 2008 • First Turf Club show since September 20, 2007 • First show supporting a touring headliner since September 1, 2007 • 31st show on MN Live's calendar since January 13, 2006
From last.fm:
Hometown: Minneapolis. The lineup: Zac, Matt, Adam, Shon and Adam. Let’s get this out of the way up top: no, Solid Gold is not a syndicated top 40 countdown show which aired from 1980 to 1988 featuring the Solid Gold Dancers. But I could see the Solid Gold Dancers doing a fine routine to a couple of Solid Gold’s numbers—maybe the slinky “Bible Thumper,” or the dreamier “Who You Gonna Run To?” Read more about Solid Gold on Last.fm.
