There are at least six artists sharing the name Mono: The name is used by a Japanese post-rock band, a British trip-hop band, a Dutch indie-rock band, a female Austrian reggae artist, a Swedish trance artist and a Korean pop ballad trio. _____________________ Japanese: Mono are a post-rock group from Tokyo, Japan formed in 1999. The songs, all of which are instrumental, are usually focused on layered guitar melodies. Strings and pianos are also prominently featured in some songs. Maserati is a rock band from Athens, Georgia, USA whose sound is best described as post-rock with math, progressive and psychedelic rock influences. Their music is instrumental, relying on the standard rock instrumentation of guitar, bass, and drums. Maserati brings in experimental sounds to produce a unique and complex musical experience. Maserati began in 2000 with Coley Dennis on guitar, Steve Scarborough on bass, Phil Horan (later replaced by the late Jerry Fuchs) on drums, and Matt Cherry on guitar.
