From last.fm:

First Communion Afterparty's music belongs to a distinct family: psychedelic rock. It's true: there is no other honest way to describe it. Their sound is built on psychedelic bands you've heard and some you haven't. There is nothing unfamiliar but there's a fresh personality behind it. Each song is an artful balance of dual guitars, bass, keyboard, tambourines, drums, floor tom and vocals from all over. Read more about First Communion Afterparty on Last.fm.

Mages

From Minneapolis

First show since since December 9, 2008 • First 400 Bar show

From last.fm:

In the spirit of its namesake, Mages’ music moves. The songs evoke an aura, an ethereal presence rather than a short-lived hook. With songwriting that reflects collaboration, Mages offer an expansive and unique repertoire in both live shows and recorded tracks. Sometimes folk, other times the melodic riffs of bluegrass, pop and rock. Mages transcend the rigid definitions of any particular genre. They are elusive yet organic, grounded yet experimental. This music is not only concerned with the world, but with what is beyond here, the infinite. Read more about Mages on Last.fm.

From last.fm:

Minneapolis electronic crusaders, The New Monarchs, have been hibernating almost since their birth in 2005. Starting out as a guitar, bass, and drums quartet, the band soon split for college. However, remaining members Sean Hogan (Vocals, Guitar, Programming, Electronics) and Taylor Nelson (Backing Vocals, Lead Guitar, Programming, Electronics, Piano) continued to write and exchange ideas via email while at their respective schools, then jointly applied the varnish to the tunes between semesters, with a more electronically based outlook. From last.fm:

Poney has been together for about eight years. There have been a few rearrangements. We are currently comprised of: Ben Brooks on drum set and vocals, Pat Kohlbeck on auxiliary percussion, Brad Beilke on guitar and vocals, Tyler Spatz on bass and vocals, and Josh Stanchik on guitar. We released an EP on our own in 2005, and a full length called "2010-2015: The Explosion Years" in late 2007 (in conjunction with Round 13 Records.) Read more about Poney on Last.fm.
