Cass McCombs
From Los Angeles, California
First Twin Cities show since since October 21, 2005 • First Entry show • First headlining show • Fourth Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar since February 27, 2005
From last.fm:
Cass McCombs (born: 1977) is an American musician whose styles range from the anxious dronals of the Velvet Underground to lonesome hollowed out basement folk with many turns in between. On his most recent effort there is a prevalance of 1980s influence a la Morrissey. His lyrical style is vivid and weary, but will often drift into the high-spirited and whimsical. McCombs was born in Concord, California. Read more about Cass McCombs on Last.fm.
Painted Saints
From Minneapolis
First show since since July 22, 2011 • First Entry show since May 2, 2011 • First show supporting a touring headliner since May 2, 2011 • 39th show on MN Live's calendar since April 15, 2006
From last.fm:
painted saints hail from Denver/Minneapolis and do the ever so popular spaghetti western-heroin klezmer-chamber country-sad bastard thing. They write tin can and twine romances in a color of rust with backdrops of long wind swept open roads framed by tangled barbed wire and naked telephone poles. Their songs are of ashtray broken hearts and lansdscapes of beauty and sorrow borrowing harmonies from old eastern europe, the desert southwest and the sentiments of working class rust belt americana. they are also really into pompous descriptions. Bill Caperton
From Minneapolis
First show since since November 3, 2010 • First Entry show since April 19, 2009 • First show supporting a touring headliner since April 19, 2009 • 17th show on MN Live's calendar since September 9, 2005
From last.fm:
This is some music from Bill Caperton. These songs were recorded during a fallow period for Bills other band, Ela. His friends Peter Leggett and Robert Skoro came and played with him. Their friend Joe Johnson recorded these songs as they started to come to life. IF it hangs from the wall, it’s a painting. If it rests on the floor, it’s a sculpture. If it’s very big or very small, it’s conceptual. If it forms part of the wall, if it forms part of the floor, it’s architecture. If you have to buy a ticket, it’s modern.
