Based in Milwaukee, Maritime formed in 2003 out of the ashes of The Promise Ring and The Dismemberment Plan. After these two bands broke up, singer/guitarist Davey von Bohlen, drummer Dan Didier (of The Promise Ring) and bassist Eric Axelson (of The Dismemberment Plan) hooked up and started a band called In English. Two Harbors (formerly known as Colonial Vipers Attack) is an indie "dreampop" band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, which was founded in 2006. The original linup included vocalist/guitarist Chris Pavlich, guitarist/vocalist Kris Johnson, bassist John Schrei, keyboardist Dax Eckel, and drummer Shawn Grider. The band released their first self-titled album in 2006, when they were still known as Colonial Vipers Attack.
