You know, the cloying co-workers who attempt to bring a little Trojan Horse happiness to the dysfunctional corporation on the eve of mass layoffs with flowers, pizza, ribbons, lace, and cupcakes? No, the Honeydogs have chosen a tough path, singing about serious subject matter always avoiding the maudlin and producing some music of great emotional intensity, complexity and beauty. Bomba de Luz is a group of four high school students from St. Paul, MN. They began playing small shows at their high school's small theater. From there on, they have played two festival shows and their name continually grows. Lead by folk rock songwriter, Lydia Hoglund, the trio of jazz musicians including Gavin Taylor-Stark, Jonas Taghavi, and Evan Slack create an atmosphere of jazz-folk. Lydia Hoglund carries with her a husky, heavy voice, far beyond her teenaged years. Read more about Bomba de Luz on Last.fm.

Pat Dougherty began writing songs in a borrowed storage closet. Tinkering with only a borrowed drum set and an old organ, he would periodically emerge to share the works in progress to handful of close friends that would later become Fairfax, AK. After spending the summer performing around the Midwest, the group retreated to an attic in a worn, yellow house in Frogtown and began crafting their upcoming debut album, Love Stories and Picture Shows.
