From last.fm:

Sonic Boom is the stage name of Peter Kember (born 19 November 1965), a British musician. Kember and Jason Pierce (born on the same day in Rugby, Warwickshire) formed Spacemen 3 in 1985. Sonic Boom's first solo album, Spectrum, was recorded in 1989 while Spacemen 3 were still a going concern, and featured the other members of the group. However, by 1991 relations with Pierce had broken down, and while Pierce went on with the other members of Spacemen 3 to form Spiritualized, Kember recruited new musicians for the group Spectrum. From last.fm:

First Communion Afterparty's music belongs to a distinct family: psychedelic rock. It's true: there is no other honest way to describe it. Their sound is built on psychedelic bands you've heard and some you haven't. There is nothing unfamiliar but there's a fresh personality behind it. Each song is an artful balance of dual guitars, bass, keyboard, tambourines, drums, floor tom and vocals from all over. Read more about First Communion Afterparty on Last.fm.

Cheval Sombre

From New York, New York

Only Twin Cities show on MN Live's calendar

From last.fm:

Each of Cheval Sombre's songs is a sort of pacemaker. Lyrics crawl out of the vocalist's mouth forming a resounding anthem that doesn't march with climactic tension, but vibrates throughout the track with the unconscious nature of a heartbeat, softening the murmurs into a subtle rhythm. From last.fm:

What would west coast pop art experimentalism sound like filtered through an industrial midwest prism? No clue, but perhaps Secret Colours can shine some light on that. The newly minted Chicago quintet channels the finest in the greats of late '60s psychedelia, '90s newgaze reverence, and a touch of driving, bucolic, no frills RnR straight from the greasiest of garages. Secret Colours at their most beautiful help you to turn on, tune in, and drop out. Read more about Secret Colours on Last.fm.

From last.fm:

Barely out of their teens, Panther Ray's Joey Johnson, Evan Kramer, Daniel Ries, and Andy Rockwood are childhood friends floating in place in time where the weird underground recording geniuses of the 60s and the 90s share a meal. Apparently that place is somewhere in the outer limits of their hometown of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Instruments and vocal mics trade hands regularly as the four multi-instrumentalists celebrate a poly amorous cacophony of junk psychedelia, youth-powered garage rock, exuberant pop weirdness, and experimental studio wizardry.
