From last.fm:

The Soviettes were a four-person stripped down and straight up punk band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, founded in 2001. The group was composed of Annie (guitar), Sturgeon (guitar), Susy (bass guitar), and the sole male in the band, Danny (drums), all of whom switched off singing duties. They named the band "The Soviettes" when Annie was serving coffee in a previous job; one of her customers suggested "Your band should be called The Soviettes". From last.fm:

The Gateway District is a punk band from Minneapolis. Their members play or have played in a bunch of other bands (The Soviettes, Rivethead, Banner Pilot, The Self Polluters, Supermanure, The Salteens), so they are a "super" group in the same sense that McDonalds Ketchup is "fancy". The Gateway District are Maren (Vocals/Guitar), Carrie (Vocals/Bass), Nate (Guitar), and Brad (Drums). They have a Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/thegatewaydistrict Read more about The Gateway District on Last.fm.

From last.fm:

Songs about snakes from Danny and Annie of The Soviettes. Danny plays the drums, Annie plays the bass guitar and the duo shares singing duties. Instrumentally, the band plays a garage-flavored high tempo rock that borders on lo-fi dance punk. Released in 2006, their debut album, Venom runs like one long musical gag to insert the words "Awesome," "Snakes" and "Jerk" as much as possible. This is all, of course, done deliberately with self-aware, winking stupidity. The album also features an appearance from P.O.S., member of Minneapolis hip-hop collective, Doomtree.
